Porcelain Inlays / Onlays

Inlays and onlays are sometimes referred to as partial crowns. These partial crowns are utilized when there is still a healthy enamel portion of the tooth. An inlay or onlay fits like a piece of a puzzle and gets bonded into the remaining healthy portion of the tooth to replace a weak, damaged or decayed area.

This piece is usually crafted out of porcelain the same day with our CEREC technology.

Procedure:

When we have decided to go ahead with an onlay, we will set aside 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the entire process.

The procedure begins with the removal of all decay in the tooth. Once we have removed the decay, we will take digital impression of the tooth.

The piece of porcelain is designed on a computer and the information gets sent to a "Milling Unit" right here in our facilities where the piece gets crafted out of a porcelain block.

The piece is then carefully fitted and bonded.
