Extractions

Nobody likes to have a tooth extracted. Whether it is a: "baby tooth", a "wisdom tooth", a "broken tooth" and even some Impacted teeth you can rest assured that at Detailed Dental, you are in good hands.

Frequently, "Wisdom Teeth" don't fit in the mouth. As a result, they erupt only partially or in the wrong angle. This leads to: recurrent infections, cavities and periodontal(gum) problems.

When needed, the best time to remove is usually when the root has formed 2/3 of the way. We monitor this through our periodic maintenace and x-rays.

Most cases are handled here, but if yours needs an Oral an Maxillofacial Surgeon, we'll make sure to point you in the right direction.

Bone Grafting / Ridge Preservation:

Whether you are planning to replace the extracted tooth with a removable partial denture, a fixed partial denture or an implant, we now know that it is important to preserve bone after extractions. Therefore, this procedure is recommended almost after every extraction.

Following an extraction, your Dentist will gently, but thorougly clean the socket, place the bone graft material, cover it with a protective membrane and suture to hold everything in place.
